Women's Varsity Sweeps Concordia (Wisc.)
The Women's NCAA team took on the Concordia University Falcons this past weekend in a home at home series.
Une Bjelland got things started for the Bulldogs on Friday afternoon at Arrington Ice Arena with only 1:14 gone in the first. Julie Barrett and Jessica Anderson would assist. Sydney Daversa would add to the score six minutes later with assists from Reaghan Pietrowski and Kathryn Truban. Brooke Schembri would give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead at the 10:48 mark with assists from Truban and Kaleigh Cadorette. Concordia would cut the score to 3-1 at the 12:07 mark but Kaleigh Cadorette would give the Bulldogs a three goal lead once again on the powerplay with 16:08 gone in the first. Jessica Von Ruden and Bjelland would assist.
Von Ruden would add a goal of her own for the lone goal of the second frame and the Bulldogs would take a 5-1 lead going into the third.
Cadorette would tally her second the night with only 2;28 gone in the third period. Schembri and Anderson would assist. Jocelin Hudanish would grab her first as a Bulldog with 14:33 elapsed in the final frame. Schembri would add the lone assist. Barrett would give the Bulldogs a 8-1 lead with less than two minutes left in the game with the lone assist from Schembri. Caodrette would pick up her first career hat trick with only 19 seconds left off of a beautiful play that would land her at the #8 spot on that night's Sports Center Top 10. Annika Hanson and Lindsey Sorrell would assist.
FInal score Friday afternoon would be 9-1 in favor of the Bulldogs with Sophie Goldberg picking up the win in net.
The Bulldogs would travel to Wisconsin that night to take on the Falcons on their own home ice the next afternoon.
Reaghan Pietrowski would give the Bulldogs a quick 1-0 lead on Saturday with an assist from Callie Wollschlager. Joceline Hudanish would add her second in as many games at the 16:50 mark with an assist from One Bjelland to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead after one.
Jessica Von Ruden would score her second the weekend for the only goal of the second period at the 6:21 mark of the middle frame. Wollschlager and Karmen Anderson would assist.
Von Ruden would add her second the night with 1:04 gone in the final frame with assists from Karmen Anderson and Julia Barrett. Emily Stemple would add her first of the weekend a minute later with an assist from Reaghan Pietrowski. Concordia would add their only goal of the game at the 16:44 mark of the final frame.
Final score on Saturday would be 5-1 in favor of the Bulldogs with Deniska Jandova would pick up the win in net.
The Bulldogs are back home once again this weekend for two scrimmages against the WD1 team at Arrington Ice Arena. They face NCAA opponents once again the following week on the road against Aurora University.
