Women's Varsity Completes Perfect Season Amid Pandemic

The Women's NCAA team took to the road this weekend for a two game series to decide the NCHA SLAATS Cup Champion in Duluth, Minnesota against the College of St. Scholastica Saints. These would be the final two games for the Women's NCAA team after the COVID pandemic led to the cancellation of the NCAA Div. III National Tournament for both Men's and Women's Hockey.

Karmen Anderson would kick things into gear only 24 seconds into the first period of play for the Bulldogs. Jessica Von Ruden would assist on her goal. Jocelin Hudanish would score at the 12:27 mark of the first to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead after one period. Abbie Grias and Brooke Schembri would assist on Hudanish's goal.

The second period would go by scoreless, but Von Ruden would net a goal of her own only 41 seconds into the third to put the visiting Bulldogs up 3-0. Jaden Rilei would pick up the lone assist on Von Ruden's goal.

Final score Friday night in game 1 would be 3-0 Adrian with Deniska Jandova picking up her twentieth career shutout.

Callie Wollschlager would light the lamp first on Saturday night. Reaghan Pietrowski would pick up the lone assist. Jocelin Hudanish would add her second of the weekend with less than thirty seconds left in the first period. Brooke Schembri and Kathryn Truban would assist on the powerplay goal. The Bulldogs would head into the second period up once again by a score of 2-0.

St. Scholastica would score their first of the weekend at the 13:36 mark of the second period to cut the Bulldog lead down to one. Jessica Von Ruden would answer back with 17:00 gone in the second to make things 3-1. Annika Hanson would grab the only assist on Von Ruden's goal.

The Saints would score less than a minute into the third, but the Bulldogs would prevail and take home the SLAATS Cup for the sixth straight season with a 3-2 win.

Deniska Jandova would once again pick up the win and the SLAATS Cup MVP title. Pietrowski, Von Ruden and Truban would all be named to the All Tournament team.

With the SLAATS Cup victory, the Women's NCAA team completes a perfect season with a 20-0-1 record, their first in program history.
