Whitaker and Sup Tally Hat Tricks in MD2's Trampling of Chippewas




The MD2 team took on the Central Michigan University Chippewas in their lone game of this past weekend at Arrington Ice Arena.


Hunter McMillan would net back to back goals to kick things off on Sunday evening to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead in the first ten minutes of the game. Jiri Sup and Joey Finfer would assist on the first goal and Logan Eggleston and Devin Whitaker would assist on the second. Sup would pick up back to back goals of his own at the 8:44 and 16:40 marks of the first. Cole Weber and Will Nicholson would assist on both goals.


Steven Cope would make things 5-0 with 2:26 gone in the second on the powerplay with assists from Ryan Hoover and McMillan. Willie McGuire would give the Bulldogs a commanding 6-0 lead with 3:00 left in the period with assists going to Hoover and Ondrej Benda.


Whitaker would be the third player to grab back to back goals at the 1:09 and 11:20 marks of the third. The first would come unassisted and and Dominik Mikulcak and Eggleston would assist on the second. Dominick Yamarino would grab an unassisted tally of his own two minutes later for a 9-0 lead. Sup would make it three on the night at the 15:45 mark of the third. Nicholson and Benda would assist. Whitaker's hat trick goal would be the final goal of the game at the 18:12 mark of the final frame with the lone assist going to Cope.


Freshman goaltender Steven Prati would pick up his first win and first shutout in net with the 11-0 victory.


The D2 Dawgs take it on the road this Friday night against the Michigan State Spartans before coming back to home ice on Sunday against the Indiana Tech Warriors.
