Three Goal third Period Sends MD1 Past Grand valley
The MD1 team took on the Grand Valley State University Lakers this afternoon in their first game of the new year.
The Lakers struck first for an early 0-2 lead before Tyler Fyfe sent home his eleventh of the season with 14;25 gone in the first. Sheldon Nolan and Chris Donaldson would assist on the powerplay tally. The Lakers would score once more in the first and the Bulldogs would find themselves down 1-3 going into the second.
Dylan Kent would cut the lead to 2-3 with a shot from the point with 13:43 gone in the middle frame. Sam Spaedt would pick up the lone assist. Brenden Stanko would tie things up three minutes later on the powerplay with assists from Nolan and Donaldson.
The Lakers would regain the lead thirty seconds into the third period. Matt Dicesare would tie things up once again at the 2:42 mark of the third. Fyfe would snag the lone assist. Manny Silverio's thirteenth of the season would give the Bulldogs their first lead of the day two minutes later with assists from Dakota Bohn and Spaedt. Matteo DiGiulio would add an insurance goal with assists from Alec Lindecker and Connor Smith.
Final score Sunday afternoon would be 6-4 in favor of the Bulldogs with Noah Decottignies picking up the win in net. The Bulldogs return to Arrington Ice Arena on Thursday night against the Western Michigan University Stallions, puck drops at 7:30 pm.
