Six MD1 Players Take Home National Tournament Honors
After winning their second National Championship in the last three years, six players on the MD1 team took home awards and were named to All Tournament teams.
Grad Student Mike Barrett was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, allowing only five goals the entire tournament with a 4-0 record and two assists to cap off his perfect season at 16-0.
Seniors Dan Stone and Austin Kuhn along with junior Manny Silverio would all be named First Team All Tournament. Stone did not register a point at the tournament, however, has been half of the Bulldogs top D-pairing all season and the core of the Bulldog defense his entire four years as a Bulldog. Kuhn, a staple on the Bulldog penalty kill, picked up 2 goals and 3 assists. Silverio, an offensive threat since his freshman year, grabbed two goals and five assists.
Senior Jordan Oshowy and sophomore Sam Spaedt would both be named to the All Tournament Honorable Mention Team. Oshowy, the second half of the Dawgs top d-pairing and the highest goal scoring defenseman in team history, grabbed two goals and one assist, including the National Championship game winning goal. Spaedt, whose nifty goal against Iowa went viral on Twitter this weekend, picked up five goals on the weekend.
