Men's D3 DROPS 2 TO HOPE, SKATES PAST INDIANA TECH IN 3 GAME WEEKEND

The Men's D3 team took on Hope College and Indiana Tech this weekend in a three game weekend for the Bulldogs.


The Bulldogs first faced the Hope Flying Dutchmen at Arrington Ice Arena on Thursday night. The Bulldogs drew first blood in the first with a goal from assistant captain Cameron Mercer. Hope would answer back with a goal of their own and the two teams would be tied 1-1 after the first.


The Dutchmen would score twice in the third, once three on three and once four on four and the Bulldogs would find themselves in a 1-3 hole going into the third period. The Dutchmen would add one more in the third and the Bulldogs would drop their first game of the weekend 4-1.


The two teams would square off once again the next evening, this time in Holland, Michigan. The Dutchmen would score first two goals of the game but the Bulldogs would answer back with a pair of their own from Dalton Anderson and Dominic Melone.


Hope would add another pair of goals in the second period to go up 4-2 after two.


Austin Brinning and Matheiu Barrette would add a pair of goals in the third after Hope went up 5-2, but the Bulldogs' efforts wouldn't be enough as they netted one last goal and Hope would win 6-4.


The Bulldogs ended their weekend on the road once again on Saturday night against Indiana Tech.


Daniel Bennet would put the Dawgs up 1-0 in the first period. Michael O'Connor would add his first as a Bulldog shortly after for a 2-0 Bulldog lead. Vinnie Sansone would make things 3-0 before the end of the first but the Warriors would make things 3-1 in the dying seconds of the first period.

Dominic Sommerville would make things 4-1 with the first goal of the second frame. Zach Van Antwerp would add his first of the night for a commanding 5-1 Bulldog lead. The Warriors would pull within three but the Bulldogs would head into the final frame with a 5-2 lead.


Joey Pinho scored the first of four Bulldog goals in the third period. Van Antwerp's second of the game would make things 7-2 for the visiting Bulldogs. Cameron Mercer would add his second of the weekend for the second to last goal of the game. Bennet would round out the scoring with his second of the night and final score would be 9-2 in favor of the Bulldogs.


The D3 Dawgs head to Canton, Michigan to take on the University of Michigan this Wednesday night before coming back to Arrington Ice Arena on February 21st when they take on Trine University.
