MD3 Drops Stevenson in Season Opener

The MD3 team took the ice for the first time this past weekend to open their season against the Stevenson University Mustangs.

Sam Lewiniski's first goal as a Bulldog would be the first goal of the year for the D3 Dawgs on an unassisted effort.

Zach Van Antwerp would make things 2-0 in the second period before back to back goals by Dominic Melone that made things 4-0 after two.

Evan Bliss would add his first Bulldog goal in the third frame to wrap up the scoring for the night.

All American goaltender Dylan Zelko would pick up the shutout and win in net as the Bulldogs took their first game by a score of 5-0.

The two teams squared off once again on Sunday afternoon for game two of the series.

Ryan Pinho would snag back to back goals at the 9:45 and 14:26 marks of the first period to give the Dawgs a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes. Zack Major and Dan Bennet would add assists on the first goal and the second would come unassisted.

Vinnie Sansone would waste no time in the second, score :37 into the middle frame. Joey Patterson and Zach Bagozzi would assist. Mathieu Barrette would make it 4-0 less than a minute later with assists going to Kurtis Clary and Austin Brining. The Mustangs would score halfway through the second to cut the lead to 4-1 but Sansone would snag his second of the night to regain the four goal lead. Bennett and Bagozzi would assist.

The Mustangs would score the lone goal of the third and the Bulldogs would come away with the victory once again and a sweep in their first weekend of the season. Freshman Joseph Miklos would pick up his win between the pipes for the Dawgs.

The D3 Dawgs are off this weekend before a three game weekend the following week.
