MD2 Splits Weekend with DePaul




The MD2 team took on the DePaul University Blue Demons this weekend in a two game home series at Arrington Ice Arena.


Jiri Sup would give the Bulldogs the first lead of the weekend with his 6th goal of the season at the 1:53 mark of the first period of game one. Cole Weber and Ondrej Benda would assist. Mitch Kellerman would make things 2-0 with less than two minutes to play with a powerplay goal from Devin Whitaker. After one, the Bulldogs would lead 2-0.


Steven Cope would find the back of the net with an unassisted goal at the 1:53 mark of the second period. The Blue Demons would cut the lead to 3-1 at the 2:13 mark and the two teams would head into the third with a 3-1 Dawgs score.


The Blue Demons would cut the lead to 3-2 at the 3:07 mark of the third period. Ryan Hoover would give the Bulldogs the two goal lead once again with a powerplay goal at the 9:43 mark. Sup and Whitaker would assist on Hoover's powerplay tally. The Blue Devils began what would end up being a comeback with three powerplay goals in the final 8 minutes of play, scoring the eventual game winner with twenty seconds left.


The two teams would face-off once again at Arrington Ice Arena on Saturday afternoon.


The Blue Demons would strike first on Saturday, scoring on a breakaway in the first two and a half minutes of the contest. Justin Session would tie things up at the 7:00 mark. Ryan Hoover would give the Dawgs the lead with 7:23 to play in the first frame. After one, the Bulldogs would lead 2-1.


Mitch Kellerman would add his second of the weekend with 7:45 gone in the second period for a 3-1 Bulldog lead. The Blue Demons would cut the lead to 3-2 with 11:45 gone in the second before tying the game with 12:50 gone.


Hoover's second of the game and tenth of the season would be the eventual game winner with 12:20 gone in the third period. Logan Eggleston's first of the year would add to the tally at the 14:43 mark and Matyas Mach would score with 3:31 remaining and the Dawgs would double up on the Blue Demons in game two.


Danny Fielding would pick up the win in net as the Bulldogs came out of the weekend with a split against DePaul.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday, November 20th against Indiana Tech, puck drops at 3:00 pm at Arrington Ice Arena.
