MD1 Wins Fourth Straight GLCHL Playoff Title in Shutout of Calvin




The MD1 team took on the Calvin University Knights in the GLCHL Playoff Championship on Saturday afternoon in Grand Rapids, Michigan.


Connor Smith kicked things off with a bang, scoring eleven seconds into the first period. Mike Finger would assist. Sheldon Nolan would make things 2-0 with 7:21 gone in the first with the lone assist going to Smith.


Manny Silverio would net the first of three goals in the second period of play. Silverio's first goal would come at the 4:55 mark of the second on the powerplay. Dan Stone and Dominic Moore would assist. Silverio would net his second of the night less than three minutes later. Moore would net a goal of his own with 12;42 gone in the first on the powerplay. Smith would once again grab the lone assist. Austin Kuhn and Tyler Fyfe would assist.


The 5-0 score would hold through the final twenty minutes of action and the Bulldogs would pick up a 5-0 win for their fourth consecutive GLCHL Playoff Title while Mike Barrett would post his nineteenth career shutout.


The Dawgs now take two weeks off of game play before heading down to St. Louis, Missouri to kick off their National Tournament run on April 16th.
