MD1 Tames Grizzlies, Cages Wildcats in Three Game Weekend
The MD1 team played a three game week this past weekend, facing off against the Oakland University Grizzlies twice in a home at home series before hosting the University of Arizona Wildcats.
The Bulldogs first travelled to Rochester, Michigan to take on the Grizzlies in a Wednesday afternoon contest. The Bulldogs would come away with a 14-1 victory with Harrison Fleming picking up the win between the pipes.
The same two teams would square off once again on Thursday night at Arrington Ice Arena. Henrik Overvall netted the first goal of the night for the Dawgs with assists from Ethan Klemen and Tyler Fyfe. Matt Dicesare would make things 2-0 in the last ten seconds of the first period with a single assist from Connor smith.
Alec Lindecker would score his first of the game at the 4:02 mark of the second period. Connor Graham and Nathaniel Mott would assist. Matteo DiGiulio's sixth of the season would make things 4-0 with 6:28 gone in the second with Dicesare and Ethan McLaughlin assisting. Lindecker's second of the game would come at the 15:38 mark of the middle frame with assists from Graham and Alec Daman. Klemen would net a goal of his own in the final three minutes of the period with assists going to Overvall and Fyfe.
Dylan Gajewski's league leading twelfth goal of the season would make things 7-0 at the start of the final frame. Brayden Morris and Sam Spaedt would assist. DiGiulio's second of the game would come at the 5:17 mark of the third with assists from Connor Smith and Dicesare. Fyfe's fourth of the season would make things 9-0 with assists from Nolan Baldrica and Overvall. DiGiulio would net his third and fourth of the contest less than a minute apart. Dicesare would pick up the lone assist on the third goal while he and Baldrica would assist on the fourth. Sam Spaedt would make it a dozen at the 14:55 mark with assists from Morris and Gajewski. Graham's first of the year would close out the scoring for the contest at the 16:51 mark of the final frame. Daman and McLaughlin would pick up assists.
Final score from Arrington Ice Arena Thursday night would be 13-0 in favor of the Bulldogs with Dylan Knighton picking up his second shutout of the season.
The Bulldogs took on the University of Arizona Wildcats Saturday night to cap off their three game weekend.
Sebastian Smith gave the Bulldogs the lead in the first frame, netting his fourth of the season on the powerplay at the 12:05 mark of the first period. Brodie Thornton and Sam Spaedt would assist.
Justin Jamer would tip a shot from Nathaniel Mott early in the second frame to put the Bulldogs up 2-0 with Mott collecting the lone assist. Sebastian Smith would net his second of the game and fifth of the season at the 8:55 mark of the middle frame with assists from Connor Smith and Ethan Klemen. The Wildcats would score on the powerplay to cut the lead to two midway through the second period to round out the scoring in the middle frame.
Thornton's third of the season would once again give the Bulldogs a two goal lead at the 9:15 mark of the third period. Matteo DiGiulio and Matt Cruz would assist. Spaedt's eighth of the year would close out the scoring for the contest at the 16:02 mark of the third with assists going to Dylan Gajewski and Sheldon Nolan.
Final score Saturday night at Arrington Ice Arena would be 5-1 in favor of the Bulldogs with Noah Decottignies picking up the win in net.
The Bulldogs are back in action against the Ohio University Bobcats this Thursday night at 7:30 at Arrington Ice Arena.
