MD1 Sweeps Mercyhurst at Home




The MD1 team took on the Mercyhurst University Lakers this past weekend in a two game home series at Arrington Ice Arena for their second series of the season.


Manny Silverio kicked things off fifty-two seconds into the game in an action packed first period. Sebastian Smith would pick up the lone assist on the opening goal. Smith would net his first as a Bulldog on the powerplay on an unassisted effort at the 6:07 mark. Sam Spaedt would snag another less than a minute and a half later with the single assist going to Matthew Dicesare. Connor Smith would net the fourth of the game at the 11:58 mark, also an unassisted effort. Sebastian Smith would tally his second of the night with fifty-one seconds left in the first. Matteo DiGiulio would snag the assist.


The Lakers would tally their lone goal in the third frame and the final score would be 5-1 in favor of the Dawgs. Freshman Noah Decottignies would pick up the win in net.


Sebastian Smith would kick things off with his third of the weekend at the 3:20 mark of the first period. His goal would be assisted by Matteo DiGiulio and Brodie Thornton. Connor Graham would pick up his second of the season at the 9:47 mark of the second with an unassisted effort. Connor Smith would snag his third of the weekend with a four on four goal less than two minutes later with assists going to DiGiulio and Dylan Kent.


Nash Hatcher would make things 4-0 five minutes into the second period with the assist going to Graham. Connor Smith would net his second of the game and fourth of the weekend with assists going to Sebastian Smith and Silverio.


Cameron Armstrong's first in an Adrian sweater would be the final goal of the game at the 14:40 mark of the third period. Kent and Ethan McLaughlin would assist.


Final score Saturday afternoon would be 5-0 in favor of the Dawgs with Harrison Fleming picking up the win and his first shutout as a Dawg.

The Dawgs take on rival University of Michigan-Dearborn on Thursday night at Arrington Ice Arena before traveling to Dearborn for their first game on the road on Friday night.
