MD1 Puts Up 25 in Wrangling of Buffalo Bulls

The MD1 team took on the University at Buffalo Bulls in a two game home series this weekend at Arrington Ice Arena.
Connor Smith would break the ice with exactly seven minutes gone in the first period of game #1 on Friday night. Nash Hatcher would pick up the lone assist before netting a goal of his own six minutes later. Sam Spaedt and Brayden Morris would assist on Hatcher's tally. Chris Donaldson would net the third of the period with 16:38 gone in the first with a single assist from Smith. After one, the Bulldogs held a 3-0 lead.
The Bulls would get on the board with two and a half minutes gone in the second, tallying a goal on the powerplay to cut the lead to 3-1. Alec Daman would send home an unassisted goal to answer back two minutes later to give the Dawgs a three goal lead once again. Smith would tally his second of the night at the 6:09 mark of the second period with the lone assist going to Brock Wallace. The Bulls would tally another powerplay goal at the 7:53 mark of the second period to make things 5-2 in favor of the Dawgs. Smith would complete his first hat trick of the season at the 9:45 mark in his first of two goals in a span of 45 seconds. Henrik Overvall and Matthew Dicesare would assist on his third goal of the night while Donaldson would assist on his fourth. Tyler Fyfe would send home his first of the weekend eighteen seconds after Smith's fourth goal of the game to give the Dawgs a commanding 8-2 lead. Manny Silverio would add to the onslaught with his first of the night at the 12:39 mark of the second with assists from Dakota Bohn and Donaldson. Spaedt would send home a goal of his own at the 13:05 mark for the seventh and final Bulldog goal of the period with assists going to Silverio and Devon Fields. After two, the Dawgs would hold a 10-2 lead.
Dicesare would snag the lone Bulldog goal of the third period at 14:00 even on the powerplay. Silverio and Smith would assist. The Bulls would grab one more before the buzzer sounded but the Dawgs would come away with an 11-3 win and Dylan Knighton would pick up the W between the pipes.
The same two teams would square off once again at Arrington Ice Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Sam Spaedt got things started in the second game of the weekend, making it 1-0 with 4:47 gone while on the Hungry Howie's powerplay. Manny Silverio and Matthew Dicesare would assist. Brodie Thornton would pick up his first of the year with 12:24 gone while playing four on four hockey. Ethan McLaughlin would assist. Connor Smith would snag his fifth of the weekend with under three minutes to play in the first. Dicesare and Henrik Overvall would assist. After one, the Dawgs were up 3-0.
Nash Hatcher would net one with exactly three minutes gone in the middle frame with assists from Tyler Fyfe and Brenden Stanko. Stanko would net one of his own a little over a minute later for a 5-0 lead. Dylan Kent an Fyfe would assist. Donaldson would pick up his second of the weekend on the major powerplay at the 8:37 mark of the second. Silverio would add another goal on the major powerplay a little over a minute later for a commanding 7-0 lead. Overvall and Stanko would assist on Donaldson's goal while Dicesare would assist on Silverio's. Spaedt's second of the night would make it 8-0 with assists from Silverio and Donaldson at even strength. Dicesare would snag his second in as many games with 15:38 gone in the second in the final goal of the period. McLaughlin and Kent would assist. After two, the Bulldogs would hold a 9-0 lead.
Dakota Bohn's fourth of the season would make it a 10-0 game with only 1:01 gone in the third. Smith and Dicesare would assist. Conner Graham would snag his second of the year with 9:55 gone with assists to Armstrong and Nolan Baldrica. Fyfe would send home a powerplay goal exactly two minutes later with the assist going to Stanko for a dozen goals on the afternoon. Alec Lindecker's first as a Bulldog would be lucky number thirteen for the Dawgs with the lone assist going to Armstrong. McLaughlin's first goal on home ice would be the final goal of the game with 16:45 gone in the third with assists going to Dicesare and Lindecker.
Harrison Fleming would pick up the shutout and the win in a 14-0 game for the Dawgs on Saturday afternoon to close out the weekend.
The Dawgs return home Thursday night against the Davenport University Panthers at 7:30pm.
