MD1 Opens 2021 With 9-0 Win Over Indiana Tech




The Men's ACHA D1 team took on the Indiana Tech Warriors on Friday night at Arrington Ice Arena in their first game of 2021.


Henrik Overvall would open the scoring for the Dawgs at the 4:01 mark of the first period. Austin Kuhn and DeVon Fields would assist.


Connor Smith would snag a pair of goals in the first seven minutes of the second to extend a 3-0 lead over the Warriors. Mike Finger and Dan Stone would assist on the first of Smith's goals while Dylan Kent would be awarded the lone assist on the second. Brodie Thornton would snag his first goal as a Bulldog at the 7:24 mark of the second period off of an unassisted effort. The Bulldogs would hold their 4-0 lead going into the third period.


Chris Donaldson would net his first of two goals at the 3:17 mark of the first period with an assist from Manny Silverio. Tyler Fyfe would make things 6-0 shortly after with an assist from Overvall. DeVon Fields would net his first as a Bulldog at the 10:21 mark of the final frame. Jordan Oshowy and Brenden Stanko would assist on Fields' first tally. Donaldon's second of the night would come four minutes later with assists going to Oshowy and Fyfe. Matteo DiGiulio would net the final goal of the game at the 18:57 mark on an unassisted effort.


Final score at Arrington Ice Arena would be 9-0 in favor of the Bulldogs with goaltender Andrew Wagner picking up the shutout in net.


The Bulldogs travel to Fort Wayne, Indiana on Saturday night to take on the Warriors once again. They return to home ice on January 22nd when they take on Purdue Northwest at 3:00pm.
