MD1 Nets 15 in Season Opening Sweep




The MD1 team opened their season this Friday night against the University of Cincinnati with a two game home series this weekend.


Henrik Overvall netted the first goal of the year at the 8:23 mark of the first period. Brenden Stanko and Nash Hatcher would pick up assists. Manny Silverio would make things 2-0 with a minute remaining in the first with assists from Tyler Fyfe and Conner Graham.


Silverio netted his second of the night at the 1:24 mark of the second period with assists from Fyfe and Brodie Thornton. Overvall would net his second of the night a minute and half later with Stanko and Matt Cruz assisting. Silverio would complete the hat trick at the 4:51 mark of the second period. Graham and Fyfe would once again assist on Silverio's goal. Cruz would net his first goal as a Bulldog at the 6:03 mark of the second period. Cameron Armstrong and Nolan Baldrica would assist. Hatcher would net his first of the year at the 8:58 mark of the middle frame with Brayden Morris picking nut the lone assist. After two, the Dawgs would lead 7-0.


Connor Smith would net the final Bulldog goal of the game with only seventeen seconds gone in the third on an unassisted effort. The Bearcats would net their lone goal of the game halfway through the first but the Dawgs would come out with an 8-1 win.


Harrison Fleming would pick up the win in net, playing 40:00 while Dylan Knighton made his debut for the Dawgs in the final period of play.


The two teams would square off once again at Arrington Ice Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Matteo DiGiulio would kick things off in game two, netting his first of the year at the 8:18 mark of the first period. Tyler Fyfe and Brodie Thornton would assist.


Nolan Baldrica would make things 2-0, ringing a shot in off of the post at the 2:27 mark of the second period. Baldrica's goal would be unassisted. Manny Silverio would make it 3-0 halfway through the first with his fourth of the weekend with assists from Matthew Dicesare and Dakota Bohn. Bohn would net his first of the year shortly after with Baldrica getting the lone assist. Conner Graham would pick up his first in an Adrian sweater for the final goal of the period at the 15:48 mark. Silverio and Thornton would assist.


Siverio scored his fifth of the weekend to make things 6-0 in the third frame. Connor Smith and Sebastian Smith would assist. Captain Tyler Fyfe would round out the scoring for the weekend, scoring his first of the year at the 12:58 mark. Silverio and Sheldon Nolan would pick up assists on Fyfe's goal.


Noah Decottignies would pick up his first win in his first game in net for the Dawgs while Dylan Knighton would maintain the shutout in the final twenty minutes of play.



The Dawgs square off against the Mercyhurst University Lakers next weekend in a Friday and Saturday series. Puck drops at 7pm on Friday night at Arrington Ice Arena.
