MD1 Dominates Davenport in Weekend Sweep




The MD1 team took on GLCHL foe, Davenport University, this weekend in a home at home series with the Panthers.


Sam Spaedt kick things off on rivalry night for the Dawgs at he 4:23 mark of the first period on the man advantage. Spaedt's goal would be assisted by Manny Silverio and Connor Smith. Matthew Dicesare would score his first of back to back goals at even strength at the 8:45 mark of the first period. Alec Daman and Devon Fields would assist. Dicesare's second of the night would come four minutes later on the powerplay with the lone assist going to Manny Silverio. Spaedt would add another powerplay goal at the 15:03 mark for his second of the night and a 4-0 lead going into the second period. Dakota Bohn and Smith would assist.


The Panthers would score with 1:37 gone in the second to make it 4-1 Dawgs. Tyler Fyfe would send home his seventh of the season at the 7:01 mark of the second period with a single assist from Nash Hatcher. Spaedt would complete his hat trick at 15:55 of the second with another powerplay goal with assists from Silverio and Smith. After two, the Dawgs would hold a 6-1 lead.


Matthew Cruz would net an unassisted goal at the 3:30 mark of the third for a 7-1 game. Alec Daman would add to the tally a little over a minute later with an assist from Brenden Stanko. Henrik Overvall would net another unassisted goal at the 8:15 mark of the third. The Panthers would score with 13:27 gone to make things 9-2 but Smith would answer with the tenth Bulldog goal of the game at the 18:53 mark. Chris Donaldson and Silverio would assist.


The Bulldogs would take game one by a score of 10-2 with Noah Decottignies picking up the win in net.


The two teams would square off once again, this time on the road at Patterson Ice Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.


Tyler Fyfe would break the ice with a powerplay goal at the 1:32 mark of the first in game two. Fyfe's goal would come on the powerplay with assists from Sheldon Nolan and Chris Donaldson. Matthew Dicesare would add his third of the weekend at the 13:32 mark of the first with the lone assist going to Manny Silverio. After one, the Dawgs would lead 2-0.


Sam Spaedt would score his fourth powerplay goal o the weekend at the 2:51 mark of the second period. Silverio would add the lone assist. Ethan McLaughlin would net his first of the weekend third of the season on the powerplay six minutes later. The Panthers would score their first goal of the night 16:16 gone in the second period. Henrik Overvall would net his second of the series with exactly one minute remaining in the second period. Overvall's goal would be unassisted and the Bulldogs would take a 5-1 lead into the final frame.


Dicesare would add his second of the game and fourth of the weekend less than two minutes into the third on an unassisted goal. Silverio would pick up his first of the night with 7:52 gone on another unassisted effort. The Panthers would add a powerplay goal before the end of the third but the Dawgs would skate away with a 7-2 win.


Noah Decottignies would once again pick up the win in net as the Dawgs picked up the sweep against their GLCHL foe.


The Dawgs hit the road this weekend for the Illini Showcase in Illinois. They first face off against UNLV Friday afternoon at 4:20 pm, their next two games are to be determined. They return to Arrington Ice Arena on December 2nd in their first of two home games against Purdue Northwest.
