Women's Varsity Snags Historic Fifth Straight Slaats Cup Title
The Women's NCAA team hosted the College of St. Scholastica Saints on Saturday night as the two teams played for the Slaats Cup.
Abbie Grias got the Bulldogs on the board first with only 1:58 gone in the first period. Brooke Schembri and Lexi Grunden would assist.
Maggie Mitter would net the lone goal of the second period at the 7:09 mark of the second frame with assists from Jessica Von Ruden and Jacqueline White.
Mitter would net an empty net goal as well, this time coming at the 17:25 mark of the third to seal the deal for the Bulldogs. Kelly O'Sullivan would assist. Schembri would add a second empty netter with 11 seconds remaining with an assist from Une Bjelland to give the Bulldogs their fifth straight Slaats Cup.
Deniska Jandova would pick up the shutout and the title of Playoff MVP with the victory, her second straight shutout of the playoffs where she only allowed one goal in three games.
The Bulldogs earned an automatic berth into the National tournament with the win and await their opponent that will be revealed Monday in the NCAA Selection Show.
