#1 MD1 Skates Past Calvin for Third Straight GLCHL Playoff Title

The #1 ranked MD1 team took on the Calvin University Knights in the GLCHL Playoff Championship game on Saturday afternoon in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The Bulldogs got off to an early lead with only 2:07 gone in the first period with a goal from Mike Finger. Dakota Bohn would be awarded the lone assist. Chris Donaldson would net the first of a pair of unassisted goals in a span of thirty seconds at the 5:07 mark of the first frame. Connor Smith would add the second at the 5:37 mark. After one, the Bulldogs would lead 3-0.
Rainer Glimpel would net his second of the weekend on the powerplay in the middle frame with assists from Marcel Kottek and Manny Silverio.
Finger would add his second of the game at the 5:57 mark of the third and final frame. Mark Fratarcangeli and Steven Szekesy would assist. The Knights would score their only goal of the game with less than three minutes remaining but the Bulldogs would prevail by a score of 5-1 for the third consecutive and seventh overall GLCHL Playoff title.
Mike Barrett would pick up both the win in net and the title of Playoff MVP for your Bulldogs in his twenty-first win of the season.
The Bulldogs travel to Frisco, Texas for the National Tournament in two weeks where they will play the winner of Calvin vs. Aquinas College on Friday, March 19th at the Comerica Center.
