Barrett Picks Up Shutout, Seniors Combine for 12 points in 16-0 Senior Night Victory


The #1 ranked MD1 team took on Slippery Rock University on Thursday night at Arrington Ice Arena for the Dawgs regular season finale at home and the Class of 2020's final home game.

Manny Silverio neared the first goal of the game at the 4:41 mark of the first period with Chris Donaldson being awarded the lone assist. Rainer Glimpel would make things 2-0 five minutes later with the assist once again going to Donaldson. Glimpel would net his second of the game eighteen seconds later with the assist going to Szekesy. Mark Fratarcangeli would make things 3-0 with 11:35 gone int he first period with Marcel Kottek assisting. Kyle Perkowski would add his first of the night two minute later with assists from Dominic Moore and Sam Spaedt. Perkowski would pick up his second of the night forty-four seconds later with an assist from Bohn. Silverio would add his second of the night at the 15:26 mark with an assist from Glimpel. Moore would net a goal of his own at the 18:53 mark with the assist going to Oshowy. Silverio would complete the hat trick with 39 seconds remaining with the lone assist going to Kottek. After twenty minutes of play, the Dawgs would hold a 9-0 lead.

Brenden Stanko would net the tenth goal of the game with 7:50 gone in the second period. Szekesy would add an assist. Szekesy would score a goal of his own forty-three seconds later on an unassisted effort. Oshowy would add a goal of his own as well less than two minutes later with an assist from Dan Stone. Sheldon Nolan would net his first goal of his Adrian College career at the 10:58 mark of the second on an unassisted effort. Glimpel would score goal #14 forty-two seconds later with an assist from Donaldson. Stanko would net his second of the period and of the game with eighteen seconds remaining in the period with the lone assist going to Oshowy. After two, the Dawgs would lead 15-0.

Mason Vaughan's first of the season would come unassisted for the final goal of the game at the 16:00 mark of the final frame.

Final score Thursday night at Arrington Ice Arena would be 16-0 in favor of the Dawgs with Mike Barrett picking up his fourteenth career shutout while his five fellow seniors would combine for 6 goals and 6 assists in their finale at Arrington Ice Arena with captain Rainer Glimpel netting a hat trick.

The Dawgs finish the regular season with a 30-2 record and head into GLCHL Playoffs next week in Grand Rapids at the #1 overall seed. They'll play a TBD opponent Friday afternoon at Patterson Ice Center.
