8 Goal First Period Sends #1 MD1 Past Toledo
The #1 ranked MD1 team took on the University of Toledo Rockets Thursday night at Arrington Ice Arena.
Dominic Moore snagged the first goal of the game at the 4:34 mark of the first periodd with assists from Marcel Kottek and Sam Spaedt. Chris Donaldson would score 16 seconds later with assists from Sheldon Nolan and Marcel Kottek. Connor Smith would make things 3-0 at the 6:38 mark of the first with the lone assist going to Dan Stone. Dante Raposo continued the onslaught four minutes later with assists from Henrik Overvall and Mike Finger. Dakota Bohn would add his third of the season at the 13:41 mark of the first with the lone assist going to Kyle Perkowski. Manny Silverio would net his first of the night 15 seconds later with assists going to Rainer Glimpel and Donaldson. Donaldson would collect his second of the night with 14:33 gone on an unassisted effort. Spaedt would net the eighth goal of the period with the assist going to Finger. After one, the Bulldogs held a commanding 8-0 lead.
Moore would net his second of the night at the 6:10 mark of the second period with the assist going to Mark Fratarcangeli. Glimpel would net a goal of his own at the 12:45 mark with the assist going to Stone. Spaedt also snagged his second of the night in the second frame at the 13;31 mark with assists from Perkowski and Moore. Tyler Fyfe would score the final goal of the period on a penalty shot to send the Bulldogs into the third period with a 12-0 lead.
Fratarcangeli would score his career high twentieth of the season at the 2:39 mark of the third. Austin Kuhn would be awarded the lone assist. Kuhn would score a goal of his own 42 seconds later with assists going to Bohn and Fyfe. The Rockets would score with 9:53 to go in the third but Moore would answer back with his third goal of the night to complete the hat trick less than a minute later. Spaedt and Perkowski would assist on Moore's third goal.
Final score Thursday night would b3 15-1 in favor of the Bulldogs with Mike Barrett picking up the win in net.
The Dawgs travel to Lynchburg,Virginia next week to take on the Liberty University Flames before returning home for senior weekend against Slippery Rock on February 27th and 28th.
