MD2 Puts 25 Past Northern in Sweep of Wildcats
The MD2 team took on the Northern Michigan University Wildcats in their final regular season series of the 2019-20 season this weekend at Arrington Ice Arena.
The Bulldogs lead 2-1 after one on Saturday afternoon at Arrington Ice Arena and then 3-1 twenty minutes later. A ten goal first period would propel them past the Wildcats by a score of 13-1 in game one of the weekend with Cedric Joubert picking up the win in net.
The two teams faced off once again at Arrington Ice Arena on Sunday morning where the Bulldogs once again took the first lead of the game. Stefan Boskovic would send home the first goal of the game at the 9:44 mark of the first period with assists from Nick Shuman and Dominik Mikulcak. A pair of goals from Justin Session in the final eight minutes of the period would send the Bulldogs into the second period with a 3-0 lead. Phil Pugliese would assist on Session's first goal while Rob Bathory and Mikulcak would assist on the second.
Pugliese would net a goal of his own at the 2:33 mark of the middle frame with assists from Kyle Boerner and Grant Kiepper. Bathory would notch a goal of his own at the 4:11 mark with Boerner once again grabbing the first assist and Devin Whitaker be awarded the other. Boskovic would snag his second of the night four minutes later with the lone assist going to Shuman. Whitaker would tally his first of the day shortly after with Kiepper picking up the assist. Boskovic would pick up his third of the game for his first career hat trick at the 15:26 mark with the assists going to Tedrick Tarvis and Brett Siewertsen. After two, the Bulldogs would lead by a score of 8-0.
Tarvis would tally the ninth goal of the game at the 1:47 mark of the third and final frame with an assist from Mitch Kellermen. Pugliese would net his second of the contest three minutes later with assists from Session and Zach McDonough. Adam Ryffel would tally his first career goal at the 12:51 mark with assists from Whitaker and Kellermen for a 11-0 score. Kiepper would net the final Bulldog goal of the game at the 17:13 mark and Northern Michigan would score seventeen seconds later for the final goal of the game. Kiepper's goal would be assisted by Ondrej Tomek and Session.
Final score Sunday morning would be 12-1 in favor of the Bulldogs in their final home game of the season with Trevor Kalinowski picking up the win in net.
The MD2 Bulldogs now await the results of the final D2 Regional Rankings which will decide what teams will move onto the regional playoffs at the end of the month.
