#1 MD1 Sweeps Davenport, Wins GLCHL Regular Season
After a 5-3 victory on home ice Thursday night, the #1 ranked MD1 team took on the #10 Davenport University Panthers this Friday night at Patterson Ice Center for the final game of their home-at-home GLCHL series.
Connor Smith got the Bulldogs on the board at the 7:34 mark of the first period with an assist from Marcel Kottek. The Panthers would even things up before the end of the first and the two teams would be tied after one.
Dakota Bohn's second of the season would be the tie breaker at the 9:54 mark of the second period. Mark Fratarcangeli and Tyler Fyfe would assist. Smith would send home his second of the night shortly after to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead heading into the third and final period. Henrik Overvall and Mike Finger would assist on Smith's second of the night.
Chris Donaldson would pick up his eleventh of the season at the 12:00 mark of the third and final period of play for a 4-1 Bulldog lead. Manny Silverio would be awarded the lone assist.
Final score Friday night in Grand Rapids would be 4-1 in favor of the Bulldogs with Mike Barrett picking up the win in net.
With the win, the Bulldogs capture their fourth consecutive and eighth overall GLCHL Regular Season title and have won fifty consecutive GLCHL Regular Season contests, dating back to the 2016-17 season.
The Bulldogs return home on Thursday night when they face the University of Toledo at 7:00 pm.
