14 Players Tally Points in #1 MD1's Sweep of RMU-Illinois


The #1 ranked MD1 team took on the Robert Morris University-Illinois Eagles this weekend in a two game home series on Saturday and Sunday at Arrington Ice Arena.

Kyle Perkowski would score the first goal of the weekend at the 4:11 mark of the first period Saturday evening with the lone assist going to Sheldon Nolan. Tyler Fyfe would make things 2-0 a little over a minute later on the powerplay with the lone assist going to Brenden Stanko. The Eagles would cut the Bulldog lead in half at the 13:51 mark on the powerplay. Manny Silverio would once again give the Bulldogs a two goal lead shortly after with his seventeenth of the season. Dominic Moore and Jordan Oshowy would assist. After one, the Bulldogs would hold a 3-1 lead.

Dominic Moore would score the first of seven second period goals and the first of three in the next 1:20 at the 6:10 mark of the second period. Fyfe and Connor Smith would assist. Rainer Glimpel would add the second 53 seconds later on the powerplay with Fyfe grabbing the assist once again. Chris Donaldson's goal would come 27 seconds after Glimpel's to give the Bulldogs a commanding 6-1 lead. Glimpel and Silverio would collect assists on Donaldson's goal. Fyfe would notch his second powerplay goal of the game and seventeenth of the season at the 12:40 mark of the second period with assists from Stanko and Oshowy. Austin Kuhn would add his third of the year at the 16:23 mark with assists from Oshowy and Dan Stone. Mike Finger would make things 9-1 shortly after with Mark Fratarcangeli picking up the lone assist. Silverio's second of the night would be the tenth of the evening for the Bulldogs with Donaldson picking up the lone assist. After two, the Bulldogs would lead 10-1.

Stanko would pick up the lone goal of the third period off of assists from Smith and Finger for the final goal of the game at the (;59 mark of the third period.

Final score Saturday night would be 11-1 in favor of the Bulldogs with Mike Barrett picking up the with between the pipes.

The two teams would face off once again at Arrington on Sunday afternoon.

Mark Fratarcangeli would give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead at the 9:32 mark of the first period with an assist from Marcel Kottek. Austin Kuhn would pick up his second of the weekend four minutes later with assists from Tyler Fyfe and Fratarcangeli. After one, the Bulldogs would lead 2-0.

The Eagles would score twice in the final six minutes of the second period to tie the game at two a piece. Dante Raposo would pick up his first of the year on the powerplay with 1:57 remaining in the first to send the Bulldogs into the final frame with a 3-2 lead. Jordan Oshowy and Brenden Stanko would assist.

Dominic Moore would pick up his second of the weekend at the 4:51 mark of the final frame for a more comfortable 4-2 lead. Henrik Overvall and Kottek would assist. Stanko would pick up his second of the weekend as well at the 12:01 mark of the second period with assists going to Finger and Kottek. The assist on Stanko's goal would be Kottek's 100th career assist in 112 games to send him past Ryan Bachman ('13) for assists in a career in team history. Moore's nineteenth of the season would come at the 18:16 mark of the final frame with the lone assist coming from Kyle Perkowski. Rainer Glimpel would add one more in the final ten seconds of the game to give the Bulldogs a 7-2 victory over the Eagles. Glimpel's goal would be assisted by Manny Silverio and Chris Donaldson.

Final score Sunday afternoon would be 7-2 in favor of the Bulldogs with Andrew Wagner picking up the win in net.

The Bulldogs are back home Thursday night against the Calvin College Knights at 7:00 pm at Arrington Ice Arena.
