Seven Goal Third Period Sends #1 MD1 Soaring Past Golden Flashes


The #1 ranked MD1 team took on the Kent State University Golden Flashes for the second time this weekend, this time on the road at Kent State University.

Dominic Moore started things out with 41 seconds gone in the first period of play with an assist from Dan Stone. Manny Silverio would make things 2-0 fifteen minutes later with assists from Rainer Glimpel and Chris Donaldson. After the first period, the Bulldogs would lead 2-0.

Jordan Oshowy would make things 3-0 on the Powerplay with assists from Connor Smith and Tyler Fyfe. Sam Spaedt would pick up his first of the night at the 10:32 mark of the second period with Moore picking up the only assist. Kent State would pick up their first and only goal of the weekend on a Bulldog penalty kill at the 14:24 mark of the second, cutting the Bulldog lead to 4-1. Spaedt would answer back with his second of the night three minutes later with assists from Dakota Bohn and Glimpel. Glimpel would pick up a goal of his own before the period's end with assists from Silverio and Donaldson. After two periods of play, the visiting Bulldogs would lead 6-1.

Glimpel would net his second of the night with only 1:35 gone in the third period with the lone assist going to Mike Finger. Brenden Stanko would fire home the eighth Bulldog goal of the evening with 12:14 gone in the final frame. Oshowy would be awarded the lone assist. Mark Fratarcangeli would pick up his first of the night fifty-nine seconds later with assists from Fyfe and Henrik Overvall. Finger would add the tenth goal of the contest with 16:51 gone with the lone assist going to Marcel Kottek. Moore would add his second of the night with less than three minutes remaining with assists from Kottek and Silverio. Spaedt would pick up his third of the night for his first collegiate hat trick with exactly 18:00 gone. Kyle Perkowski would pick up the lone assist. Fratarcangeli would pick up his second of the night thirty-eight seconds later for the thirteenth and final goal of the night.

Final score Friday night in Kent would be 13-1 in favor of the Bulldogs with Andrew Wagner picking up the win between the pipes, stopping 26 of 27 shots faced.

The Bulldogs will take next week off for Thanksgiving before returning to Arrington Ice Arena for the final time in 2019 against rivals University of Michigan-Dearborn at 7:00 pm.
