#1 MD1 Posts Third Straight Shutout in Stomping of Kent State


The #1 ranked MD1 team took on the Kent State University Golden Flashes this Thursday evening at Arrington Ice Arena.

Mike Finger would net the first goal of the game at the 3:28 mark, scoring right off the bat in his first game since September. Mark Fratarcangeli and Tyler Fyfe would assist on Finger's goal. Brenden Stanko would send home the second goal of the game at the 6:08 mark of the first with assists coming from Jordan Oshowy and Dan Stone. Fratarcangeli would add a third less than a minute later with assists from Finger and Fyfe. Chris Donaldson would add a powerplay goal at the 10:09 mark for a 4-0 Bulldog lead. Connor Smith and Stanko would assist.

Sam Spaedt would make things 5-0 Bulldogs in the first goal of the second period with assists from Sheldon Nolan and Kyle Perkowski. Manny Silverio would send home a shot from the point on the powerplay three minutes later with assists from Marcel Kottek and Nolan. Fyfe would net a goal of his own before the period's end with assists from Finger and Fratarcangeli. After two periods of play, the Bulldogs would hold a 7-0 lead.

Dominic Moore would add the first of six third period goals with only thirty-eight seconds gone in the final frame. Stone and Oshowy would assist. Fyfe would add his second of the night for his third multi-goal game of the season at the 4:30 mark. Fratarcangeli and Mason Vaughan would assist. Kottek would add his fifth of the season with a beautiful bardown shot from the point with 5:08 gone in the third with the lone assist going to Moore. Alec Daman would add his seventh of the season ten minutes later with assists from Stanko and Smith. Smith would net a goal of his own for his team leading sixteenth of the season with an assist from Vaughan.

Final score Thursday night would be 13-0 in favor of the Bulldogs with Mike Barrett picking up the shutout, turning aside all 24 shots faced.

The two teams will square off once again Friday night at Kent State University for the second game of the home-at-home GLCHL series. The Bulldogs return home one last time for the semester on December 6th again heated rival, the University of Michigan-Dearborn at 7:00 pm.
