MD2 Takes Down Michigan State for First Sweep of the Season

The #9 ranked MD2 team took on the #7 ranked Michigan State Spartans in a two game home-at-home series this week.
The Spartans came to town Wednesday night to square off with the MD2 Bulldogs.
Mitch Kellerman's first career goal would put the Bulldogs up 1-0 with 16:58 gone in the first period of play. Philip Grippi would grab the lone assist.
The Bulldogs would hold a 1-0 lead through the end of the period and would head into the intermission with a 1-0 lead. Phil Pugliese would make things 2-0 at the 2:15 mark of the second period with Justin Session grabbing the lone assist. Devin Whitaker's first of the year would give the Bulldogs a more comfortable 3-0 lead, an unassisted effort. Grippi would grab a goal of his own, his third of the season, before the end of the second period to put the home team up 4-0 heading into the third and final frame. Dominick Yamarino would be awarded the lone assist on Grippi's goal.
Tedrick Tarvis would net his first of the season at the 10:46 mark of the third period with an assist from Adam Ryffel. Stefan Boskovic's third of the year would put the Bulldogs up 6-0 with under ten minutes to play in the third with assists from Ondrej Tomek and Dominik Mikulcak.
Final score Wednesday night in Adrian would be 6-0 in favor of your Bulldogs with Trevor Kalinowski picking up the win and shutout between the pipes.
The two teams would square off once again Friday night in East Lansing at Munn Ice Arena.
The Spartans would score first Friday night, but Matyas Mach would answer back to tie things up at 1 a piece in the first period. The two teams would head into the second frame tied at 1-1.
Alex Sode would give the visiting Bulldogs their first lead of the night midway through the second frame and the Bulldogs would carry the lead into the final period of play.
Grant Kiepper would give the Bulldogs a more comfortable 3-1 lead off of a pass from Dominick Yamarino in the final frame and the Bulldogs would hold the 3-1 score to pick up their second win of the week and their first sweep of the season. Cedrick Joubert would pick up the win in net.
The MD2 team travels to Trine University on Thursday night and then to Davenport Friday night for a pair of road games.
