The MD1 team took on the Mercyhurst Lakers on Thursday night for the first of two home games against their opponents from Eerie, Pennsylvania.

The Bulldogs came out flying, racking up ten shots in the first five minutes of the game. Chris Donaldson would net the first goal of the game at the 11:08 mark of the first period. Marcel Kottek would be awarded the lone assist. Mark Fratarcangeli would add a second Bulldog goal fifty-five seconds later, tipping a shot from the point from Steven Szekesy. Szekesy would be given the only assist. Connor Smith would add his sixth in five games at the 13:44 mark of the first with the lone assist going to Manny Silverio. Kottek would add his second goal in his second straight game thirty seconds later to put the Bulldogs up 4-0. After one, the Bulldogs would hold a 4-0 lead and 39-3 shot advantage.

Brenden Stanko would net a pair of goals thirty seconds apart to kick off the second period. Dakota Bohn would assist on the first while Szekesy would add the helper on the second. Kyle Perkowski would score what ended up being a perfect candidate for goal of the year at the 14:06 mark of the second, cutting in all alone on the goaltender and deking him out of his pads, sending the puck over the goaltender's leg pad to put the Bulldogs up 7-0. Smith would add his second of the night after he had the puck taken by a Mercyhurst defenseman who would mishandle the puck and have it end up in his own net. Dylan Kent would be awarded the assist. After two, the Bulldogs lead 8-0 and outshoot their opponents 74-7.

Alec Daman would add the lone goal of the third period and final goal of the game, stuffing one past the goaltender in a scrum in front of the net at the 11:22 mark of the first period. Donaldson would add the lone assist.

Final score at Arrington Ice Arena would be 9-0 in favor of the Bulldogs with Andrew Wagner stopping all 11 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season and fourth of his career. The Bulldogs would put up 105 shots on goal, tying a record previously set by the Women's ACHA team in 2013.

The two teams will square off again tomorrow night at Arrington Ice Arena once again at 7:00 pm.
