Five Bulldogs to Represent USA at World University Games in Russia

The rosters for the 2019 World University Games national teams were announced earlier this weekend and five Bulldog skaters will be making the trip to Krasnoyarsk, Russia at the end of February.

WACHA Head Coach and 2017 ACHA WD1 Coach of the Year, Brett Berger, will once again serve as assistant coach for the women's team after serving in the same capacity in 2017 and 2015.

Returning to Team USA will be junior forward Britt Levasseur (Pepperall, Mass.), the lone freshman on the 2017 squad that capture bronze. Levasseur currently sits at second in points and first in goals for WACHA with 14 goals and 8 assists for 22 points in 21 games. Her 57 career goals is second best in the team's history for goals in a career.

Levasseur will be joined by three teammates, Olivia Ziemba, Brooklynn Moore and Freya Holferty.

Ziemba (Macomb, Mich.) a senior forward and assistant captain, has tallied 9 goals and 13 assists to tie Levassuer for second in points with 22 this season in 22 games. Moore (Valencia, Cal.), a sophomore, has appeared in 18 games and tallied 1 goal and 8 assists from the blue line this season. Holferty (Marquette, Mich.), also a sophomore, has played in 20 games in her first year as a member of WACHA where she has netted 3 goals and dished out 10 assists for 13 points.

Since the creation of the Women's D1 program at Adrian, eight Bulldogs have now been named to Team USA and this will be the third year Berger will serve as assistant coach. Levasseur and Berger, along with Jessica Rushing ('18) and Sabrena Camp ('18), won Bronze in 2017.

MD1 forward Dominic Moore will be the first MD1 player named to Team USA since the 2015 games in Granada, Spain.

Moore (Woodhaven, Mich.), a junior forward, sits tied for second in points on the team this season with 11 goals and 23 assists for 34 points in 25 games.

Five Bulldogs from the MD1 team have now been chosen to represent the United States at the World University Games in the past 11 years, along with former head coach Dan Phelps, who served as assistant coach in 2011, 2013 and 2015.

Semifinals will be played on March 10th and Gold and Bronze medal games on March 11th. You can find more information on the games and schedule here on the USA Hockey website.
