WD2 Holds Ohio State Goalless in Weekend Series
The WACHA D2 team took on Ohio State University this weekend in a two game home series Saturday and Sunday at Arrington Ice Arena.
Liz Anderson would net the lone goal of the first period Saturday night. Cristina Rotundo and Kamille Scarbrough would assist.
Cece Werner would give the Bulldogs 2-0 lead 5:20 into the second period. Sara Knapp would add the lone assist. Kathleen Droba would net the third Bulldog goal of the game off of an assist by Emily Letke at the 15:32 mark of the second. After two, the Bulldogs would hold a 3-0 lead.
Letke would net a goal of her own to kick off the third period with an assist from Kenzi Heisner fifteen seconds into the period. Scarbrough would also net a goal of her own at the third with 1:43 gone. Anderson and Rotundo would assist. Droba's second of the night would be the final goal of the game, assisted by Jessie Abraham.
Final score Friday night would be 5-0 in favor of the Bulldogs with Victoria Poland picking up the shutout in net.
Sara Knapp would kick things off in the first period on Sunday afternoon for the Bulldogs, netting the first goal of the game at the 12:28 mark. Katie Hayward and Ally van Antwerp would assist.
Grace Pavolich would make things 2-0 in the second period at the 1:51 mark. Knapp and Jena Cruz would assist. Maria Granger would give the Bulldogs a more comfortable 3-0 lead with 15:27 gone Kenzi Heisner and Jessie Abraham would assist. After two, the Bulldogs lead 3-0.
Liz Anderson would net the final goal of the game at the 14:28 mark of the third. Cristina Rotundo would collect the lone assist.
Final score Sunday afternoon would be 4-0 in favor of the Bulldogs with Victoria Poland picking up her second shutout of the weekend.
The WD2 team takes to the ice one final time at Arrington Ice Arena on February 9th when they take on the Michigan State Spartans at 11:00 am.
