Men's Varsity Takes Two at Home
In their first home series of 2019, the Men's NCAA team took on two separate opponents this past weekend at Arrington Ice Arena.
The Bulldogs first played host to longtime rivals, the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders, on Friday night.
The Raiders jumped out to the first lead of the game at the 5:09 mark of the first period and would hold the lead through the first twenty minutes of play. Matt McNair would net the equalizer with 6:10 gone in the second period with assists from Cory Dunn and Braden Hellems. McNair would break the 1-1 deadlock in the third period as well, netting his second of the game at the 10:47 mark of the final frame. Vinny Post would be awarded the lone assist. Trevor Boyd would add an insuarance goal with 4 seconds remaining in the game on an unassisted empty net goal. Final score Friday night would be 3-1 in favor of the Bulldogs with Nikita Babintsev picking up the win.
The Falcons of Concordia University-Wisconsin would come to town on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs would find themselves trailing in the first once again on Saturday afternoon when the Falcons grabbed the first goal of the game at the 8:31 mark of the first period. Bryan Yim would even things out at the 11:50 mark of the first. Trevor Boyd and Niko Coffman would add assists. Connor Armour would give the Bulldogs their first lead of the night at the 15:00 mark with assists from Brandon Marinelli and Matt McNair. A goal from Bryce Van Horn would make it a 3-1 game heading into the first intermission with assists from Nick Erb and Michael Montambault. After one, the Bulldogs held a 3-1 lead over the visiting Falcons.
Rex Moe's first goal as an Adrian College Bulldog would come as the lone second period goal at the 1:23 mark. Brian Bachnak would dish out the lone assist on Moe's goal. The Falcons would come within one in the final five minutes of play, but an empty net goal from Dino Balsamo would give the Bulldogs the victory with 32 seconds left in the game.
Final score Saturday afternoon would be 5-3 Bulldogs with Nikita Babintsev once again picking up the win in net.
The Men's NCAA team travels to St. Norbert College this Friday night before heading to Finlandia University for a Saturday afternoon matchup against the Lions. The Bulldogs are back on home ice on Friday, February 1st when they host the Lake Forest College Foresters and then the Aurora University Spartans Saturday.
