Men's Varsity Splits Weekend on the Road

The Men's NCAA team was on the road this weekend in their first two official games of 2019, looking to start 2019 off with a win after dropping their final game of 2018 at home by a score of 6-4 on December 30th.

The Bulldog offense would not find the back of the net for the entire game Friday night as the Bulldogs were shutout by the Foresters of Lake Forest College.

Looking to snap their two game winless skid, the Bulldogs would take on the Spartans of Aurora University Saturday afternoon in Illinois.

The Spartans would get on the board first and hold the 1-0 lead through the first twenty minutes of play. Trevor Boyd would tie things up with a powerplay goal at the 1:04 mark of the second frame with assists from Braden Hellems and Connor Armour. Joey Colatarci would add another Bulldog powerplay goal with 11 seconds remaining in the period with assists from Dino Balsamo and Rex Moe. After two, the Bulldogs held a 2-1 lead.

Boyd's second of the night would come shorthanded at the 12:43 mark of the final period of play as an insuarance goal to give the visiting Bulldogs a 3-1 lead. The score would hold through the rest of the game and the Bulldogs would snap their two game losing streak with a win on the road. Nikita Babintsev would pick up the win between the pipes for the Bulldogs, stopping 14 of 15 Spartan shots.

The Bulldogs are back at home next weekend, January 17th and 18th as they take on MSOE Friday night at 7:05 pm and Concordia-Wisc. on Saturday at 3:05 pm.
