#3 MD1 Hands #2 Dearborn First Loss of the Season


The MD1 team travelled to the university of Michigan at Dearborn this Saturday evening to take on familiar foe, the UM-Dearborn Wolverines for their final game of the semester.

The Wolverines would strike first, grabbing a 1-0 lead with 11:37 gone in the first period. Cooper McLean would answer back for the Bulldogs at the 18:07 mark of the first. Austin Kuhn would grab the lone assist on McLean's goal. After one, the two teams would be deadlocked at 1 a piece.

The Wolverines would go up 2-1 at the 8:07 mark of the second. Steven Szekesy would tie the game for the Dawgs 51 seconds later with his third goal of the season. Joe Costello and McLean would add assists. After two periods of play, the two teams would once again be tied up at two a piece.

After a scoreless third period and five minute three-on-three overtime, the two teams would head to a shootout. It would take 7 shooters from each team before Dominic Moore scored the game winning goal, clinching the victory for the Dawgs. Final score would be 3-2 in favor of the visiting Bulldogs and Mike Barrett would pick up the win in net as the Bulldogs handed the Wolverines their first loss of the season.

The Bulldogs finish the first semester of hockey with a 17-1 record and will be back in action at Arrington Ice Arena on January 17th when they take on Oakland University in GLCHL play.
