MD1 Tops Western Michigan in 2018 Home Finale
In their final home game of the 2018 calendar year, the MD1 team took on the Stallions of Western Michigan University on Tuesday night at Arrington Ice Arena.
Kyle Perkowski would light the lamp for the third straight game at the 8:13 mark of the first period with assists from Marcel Kottek and JP Grineau. Rainer Glimpel would net his first of the night at the 14:30 mark of the first off of assists from Dominic Moore and Mark Fratarcangeli. Manny Silverio would net his 7th of the season with less than three minutes remaining to put the Bulldogs up 3-0. Joe Costello and Chris Donaldson would assist on Silverio's goal. The Stallions would get on the board with five seconds left on the clock. After one, the Bulldogs would lead the Stallions by a score of 3-1.
Tyler Fyfe would put the Bulldogs up 4-1 in the second with his fourth goal of the season at the 2:19 mark of the third period. Kottek and Costello would add assists. Dante Raposo's fifth of the season would give the Bulldogs a comfortable 4 goal lead in the second period with assists from Costello and Fyfe. Silverio would net his second of the night at the 13:16 mark of the third period. After two, the Bulldogs would lead the Stallions 6-1.
The Stallions would cut the Bulldog lead down to 6-2 in the first 12 seconds of the final frame. Glimpel's second of the game would once again give the Bulldogs a 5 goal lead at the 5:25 mark of the third period. Moore and Raposo would assist on Glimpel's goal. The Stallions would grab their final goal of the game at the 11:15 mark.
Final score Tuesday night would be 7-3 in favor of the Bulldogs with Greg Maggio picking up the win in net for the Bulldogs.
The MD1 team closes out the 2018 calendar year on the road on Saturday when they face familiar foe, the University of Michigan Dearborn, on Saturday night.
