MD1 Sweeps Kent State


The MD1 team took on the Golden Flashes of Kent State University this weekend in a GLCHL home-at-home series.

The first contest took place on Friday night at Arrington Ice Arena on Bulldog home ice. The first period would go by scoreless between the two teams. Dominic Moore would break the ice in the second period, scoring at the 8:14 mark of the second frame on an unassisted effort. Brenden Stanko would score the first of two Bulldog goals in a 28 second span at the 10:57 mark with assists from Joe Costello and Mike Finger. Costello would score 28 seconds later off of an assist from Mike Finger to give the Bulldogs a more comfortable 3-0 lead. JP Grineau would fire one home with 1:29 remaining in the period to put the Dawgs up 4-0 before the end of the second period. Costello and Manny Silverio would assist on Grineau's tally. After two, the Bulldogs would hold a 4-0 lead over the Golden Flashes.

Rainer Glimpel would get things started 32 seconds into the third period with an assist from Tyler Fyfe. Kyle Perkowski would add an unassisted goal six minutes later for the sixth goal of the game. Costello would snag his second of the night a minute later with assists from Stanko and Grineau. Kent State would get on the board with two back to back goals in three minutes, but Jordan Oshowy would answer less than a minute after the second goal with the eighth Bulldog goal of the game with assists from Moore and Glimpel.

Final score Thursday night at Arrington Ice Arena would be 8-2 in favor the Bulldogs with Mike Barrett picking up the win in net.

Jordan Oshowy would open the scoring in Kent, Ohio Friday night as the Bulldogs and Golden Flashes took things to Ohio for the second game of the series. Oshowy's goal would be assisted by Rainer Glimpel. Oshowy's goal would be the lone tally of the first and the Bulldogs would lead by a score of 1-0 after the first.

Cooper McLean would net the lone second period goal with an assist from Manny Silverio at the 7:45 mark of the second. After two, the Bulldogs would lead 2-0. Glimpel would grab his second in as many games at the 24 second mark of the third period, getting helpers from Tyler Fyfe and Dan Stone. Silverio would net a goal of his own at the 2:04 mark of the third off of an assist from Oshowy. Kyle Perkowski's secondo of the series would close things out Friday night with the lone assist going to Mark Fratarcangeli.

Final score Friday night at Kent State University Ice Arena would be 5-0 in favor of the visiting Bulldogs with Mike Barrett picking up the win for his 7th career shutout.

The Bulldogs return to Arrington Ice Arena on Tuesday, December 4th when they square off against the Broncos of Western Michigan University at 7:15 pm.
