WACHA Tramples Davenport in Lone Weekend Contest
In a rare single game weekend, the Women's ACHA D1 team took on the Davenport University Panthers in a single contest on Saturday night in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Brooklynn Moore's first goal as a Bulldog would be the first goal of the game for the visiting Bulldogs at the 8:18 mark of the first period. Moore's goal would be assisted by Kyleen Wilson. Kirstin LaBelle would add an unassisted tally three minutes later to put WACHA up 2-0 on the Panthers. Taylor Murcek would add a third Bulldog goal before the end of the first period assisted by Madeline Arnold and Freya Holferty. After one, the Bulldogs would lead Davenport by a score of 3-0.
Sam Fortune would score a pair of goals in a two minute span in the first five minutes of the middle from to give the Bulldogs a commanding 5-0 lead. Fortune's first goal would be assisted by Kaillie Hardy and Moore while the second would be assisted by Hardy and Wilson. Olivia Pollari would add her first of the season at the 6:34 mark of the second assisted by Leah Williams. Erika McDonald would add the final goal of the middle frame at the 15:37 mark with an assist from Moore and the Bulldogs would head into the final frame with a 7-0 lead.
Murcek would add her second goal of the night at the 5:24 mark of the third period off of an unassisted effort. Williams would grab a goal of her own 14 seconds later with assists from Pollari and Olivia Ziemba. Wilson would grab her third of the season at the 15:38 mark of the third with an assist from Williams to make things 10-0. Holferty's second of the season would close out the scoring for the Bulldogs at the 18:08 mark with the lone assist going to Hardy.
Final score Saturday night would be 11-0 in favor of the Bulldogs with Kalysta Coulter picking up the win and seven save shutout between the pipes for the Bulldogs.
WACHA returns to Arrington Ice Arena this weekend, November 16th and 17th when they take on the McKendree BearCats at 9:30 pm Friday night and 3:00 pm Saturday.
