Women's Varsity Skates by Northland with a Pair of Shutouts

The Women's NCAA team took on the Northland College Lumberjills this past weekend in a two game series at Arrington Ice Arena to open their season at home.

Kortney Diaz would grab her second shorthanded goal of the season in the final two minutes of the first period to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead on Saturday night. Kelly O'Sullivan would be awarded the lone assist. Rylee Bates would add one more first period goal with 13 seconds remaining in the period to put the Bulldogs up 2-0 going into the second period. Brooke Schembri would be given the lone helper on Bates' goal.

Schembri would add a goal of her own in the third period after a scoreless middle frame with assists from Amanda Tomasek and Jacqueline White. Final score Saturday night would be 3-0 in favor of the Bulldogs with Kate Turner picking up the win and shutout between the pipes.

The first period would go by scoreless on Sunday afternoon when the two teams squared off once again. Hannah Dalrymple would break the tie with only 25 seconds remaining in the second period to give the Bulldogs the lead. Sydney Daversa and Kortney Diaz would be awarded assists.

The third period would go by scoreless as well and the final score Sunday afternoon would be 1-0 in favor of the Bulldogs. Mia Glassco would pick up the shutout win in net for the Bulldogs, who move to 3-1 on the season.

The Bulldogs are back at Arrington Ice Arena on Sunday, November 11th at 3:00 pm when they face off against Trine University. The Women's NCAA team will travel to Trine on Saturday to play the Thunder at 7:00 pm.
