Men's Varsity Splits Weekend with Lawrence and Marian

The Men's NCAA team took on Lawrence University and Marian University this past weekend to open their season at home at Arrington Ice Arena.

The Bulldogs would first take on the Lawrence University Vikings on Friday night for their home opener of the 2018-19 season. Bryan Yim would get things started for the Bulldogs, netting his first of the season on the powerplay at the 3:02 mark of the first period. Connor Armour and Bryce Van Horn would assist on Yim's powerplay tally. Trevor Coykendall would grab his first goal in a Bulldog sweater at the 16:20 mark of the first period. Braden Hellems and Nick Erb would both assist on Coykendall's first Bulldog goal. Brian Bachnak would add a third first period goal with assists from Michael Montambault and Vincent Paquette. After the first, the Bulldogs would hold a 3-0 lead.

Connor Armour would score the first of a trio of second period goals for the Bulldogs at the 6:55 mark with assists from Niko Coffman and Trevor Boyd. Yim would add his second of the night less than a minute later off of an assist from Cory Dunn. With the assist, Dunn reached the 100 career point milestone, becoming only the third defenseman in the team's history to reach 100 points. Matt McNair would add a third second period goal at the 18:22 mark to put the Bulldogs up 5-0. Matt Eller and Joey Colatarci would assist. After two periods of action, the Bulldogs would lead 6-0.

Yim would complete his hat trick at the 9:19 mark of the third with a powerplay goal. Armour and Coltarci would assist. Yim's goal would be the final goal from either teams and the final score would be 7-0 in favor of the Bulldogs. Kevin Entmaa would pick up the win and shutout between the pipes for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs then took on the Sabres of Marian University on Saturday afternoon in their second game of the weekend.

The first frame would go by scoreless before Marian would come out in the second and score two even strength goals in the first ten minutes of the period. Bryan Yim would score his fourth in two games from Trevor Coykendall and Cory Dunn to cut the lead in half at the 8:01 mark of the second period.

The Bulldogs, however, could not manage to tie things up in the final period of play and the Sabres would net a pair of empty net goals in the final minute of play to defeat the Bulldogs by a score of 4-1.

The Bulldogs are back on home ice next weekend on Friday night when they take on the Lions of Finlandia University. They will take on #1 St. Norbert College Green Knights the next afternoon at 4:05 at Arrington Ice Arena.
