WACHA Skates Past Liberty with Win and Tie

In a rematch of the 2018 Women's ACHA D1 National Championship, the Bulldogs took on the Flames of Liberty University for a two game series this past weekend.

The two teams would first square off Friday afternoon at Arrington Ice Arena where they would stay deadlocked at 0 for the first twenty minutes of play. Huntyr Bosher of the Bulldogs would break the ice and score the first goal of the game at the 9:02 mark of the first period. Tanya Candido and Katrina Robinson would be awarded assists. The Flames would answer back with a goal of their own 5 minutes later to tie things up at 1 a piece heading into the third period.

Brittany Levasseur would send home the eventual game winner on the powerplay at the 6:42 mark of the third period. Olivia Ziemba and Freya Holferty would grab assists. Bosher would add an empty net goal with 3 seconds left in the game off of assists from Kaillie Hardy and Jessica Harrison to give the Bulldogs their first victory over the Flames since October of 2013. Dana Columbo would pick up the win in net for the Bulldogs.

Huntyr Bosher would once again open the scoring on Saturday afternoon as the two teams squared off once again at Arrington Ice Arena. Bosher would add a second first period goal to put the home team up 2-0 in the first with 13:06 gone in the period. Kaillie Hardy would be given the lone assist on Bosher's second goal. Katrina Robinson would add a third Bulldog goal at the 17:31 mark of the first to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead going into the second period of play. Taylor Murcek and Brittany Levasseur would assist on Robinson's goal.

The Flames would add a pair of goals in the first 12:15 of the second period to cut the Adrian lead down to 3-2 halfway through the game. Sam Fortune would add a goal of her own two minutes later to once again give the Bulldogs a 2 goal lead and the Bulldogs would carry the 4-2 lead into the third period of play. Kyleen Wilson would be given the only assist on Fortune's goal.

THe Flames would tie the game at 4 a piece at the 10:56 mark of the third period of play and the two top teams in the nation would take things to overtime. Neither team would score during the five minute overtime period and game two of the two powerhouses would end in a tie.

WACHA will be back at Arrington Ice Arena on Friday, Movember 16th when they take on the McKendree University BearCats at 9:30 pm.
