WACHA Scores 39 Goals in Three Game Weekend


The Women's ACHA team took on both Aquinas and Davenport this weekend in 3 games in 3 days.

The Bulldogs first travelled to Grand Rapids, Michigan to take on the Aquinas Saints on their home ice. Nicole Paradis (Olivia Ziemba) would score the first of 7 first period goals for the Bulldogs at the 10:10 mark of the first. Erika McDonald. (Ziemba), Tanya Candido (McDonald), Kaillie Hardy (Paradis, Huntyr Bosher), Kirstin Labelle (Meagan Coleman, Sam Fortune), Katrina Robinson (Freya Holferty) and Ziemba (McDonald, Kyleen Wilson) would all net goals in the next 9:50 to put the Bulldogs up 7-0 after twenty minutes.

The second period would see a hat trick for Leah Williams (Unassisted, Brooklynn Moore, Alexa Wyczynski, Moore) and a pair of goals each by Hardy (Paradis, Wyczynski, Bosher, Paradis) and Bosher (Hardy (2), Holferty) and single tallies from Wilson. (unassisted) and Coleman (Colby Donald, Labelle). After two, the Bulldogs would hold a 16-0 lead over the Saints. Donald would pick up her first of the game in the third period (Kelly Rae Zdan, Holferty) while Coleman would snag her second of the game to close out the scoring with less than two minutes remaining (Moore, Fortune).

Game one would go to the Bulldogs by a score of 18-0 with Kalysta Coulter picking up the win in net.

The Bulldogs would come out hot in the first period again on Saturday night at Arrington Ice Arena, sending home 8 goals in the first twenty minutes of play. Erika McDonald (Kyleen Wilson, Leah Williams) would grab the first goal of the game for the Bulldogs, followed by goals from Nicole Paradis (unassisted), Wilson (Kirstin Labelle, Brooklynn Moore), Olivia Ziemba (Freya Holferty, Williams), Meagan Coleman (Brittany Levasseur), Levasseur (Paradis, Holferty), Williams (McDonald, Ziemba) and Labelle (Moore). After one, the Bulldogs would lead 8-0.

Kaillie Hardy would snag the lone goal of the second period and the Bulldogs would take a 9-0 lead into the third and final frame. Hardy's goal would be assisted by Paradis and Taylor Murcek. Levasseur would net her second of the game at the 2:52 mark of the third period with assists from Alexa Wyczynski and Ziemba. Hardy would net her second of the night 5 minutes later with assists from Huntyr Bosher and Paradis. Kelly Rae Zdan would grab the 12th and final goal of the game at the 16:36 mark of the third to close out the scoring for both teams.

Final score Saturday night would be 12-0 in favor of the Bulldogs with Tianna Lavalle picking up the win for the Bulldogs.

In the third game of the weekend for the Bulldogs, the Davenport University Panthers would come to Arrington Ice Arena Sunday afternoon.

Sam Fortune would kick things off for the Bulldogs Sunday afternoon against the Panthers with a lone assist going to Kirstin Labelle. Brittany Levasseur would make things 2-0 with the final goal of the first period to send both teams back to the locker rooms with a 2-0 Bulldog lead. Taylor Murcek and Freya Holferty would grab assists on Levasseur's goal.

Leah Williams would score the first of four second period Bulldog goals at the 5:19 mark of the second with an assist from Olivia Ziemba. Levasseur would add her second of the game two minutes later off of a pass from Katrina Robinson. Fortune would also pick up her second of the game in the second frame, scoring at the 10:08 mark of the second. Williams and Kaillie Hardy would assist on Fortune's second goal. The Panthers would get on the board at the 16:26 mark of the second to cut the Bulldog lead down to 5-1. Williams would grab her second of the game to close out the scoring for either team in the second frame. After two, the Bulldogs lead 6-1.

Fortune would complete the hat trick at the 12:30 mark of the third period with assists from Williams and Kyleen Wilson. Hardy would add her first of the game 4 minutes later to make it 8-1 in favor of the Bulldogs. Paradis and Wilson would assist on Hardy's goal. Meagan Coleman's first of the game would be the final tally of the game with 36 seconds remaining in the game with Wilson grabbing the lone assist.

Final score Sunday afternoon would be 9-1 in favor of the Bulldogs with Dana Columbo picking up the win in net.

WACHA is back at Arrington Ice Arena on Friday, October 26th when they face off against Liberty for the first time since the National Championship game in March at 3:00 pm at Arrington Ice Arena.
