Bulldog Hockey Class of 2018 Sees 6 Players Go Pro

In an incredibly eventful off season, the Bulldogs' Class of 2018 is making a huge splash in the professional hockey world in the US and across the Atlantic in Europe. Six different players from the Class of 2018, four from the Men's NCAA team and two from the Men's ACHA D1 team, will all be playing professional hockey this upcoming season.

Men's NCAA Captain Mathew Thompson was the first to make his pro debut with the Indy Fuel of the ECHL where he made an immediate impact with the Fuel, scoring the team's first home playoff goal in franchise history. Thompson cracked the 2018-19 roster for the Fuel, coming up as a protected player this July when rosters were being announced.

Dillon Kelley, also of the Men's NCAA team, made his professional debut on an Amatuer Tryout with the Norfolk Admirals at the end of the ECHL regular season alongside teammate Taylor McCloy. Kelley would then be signed by the Fayettesville Marksmen of the SPHL and will attend the Orlando Solar Bears camp of the ECHL.

Austyn Roudebush, the ACHA Men's D1 2018 Player of the Year, would sign with Viking HC of the Division II league in Sweden this past August, becoming only the third member of the Men's D1 team to take his talents to Europe to play professional hockey.

MD1 standout and Adrian College' all time leading point getter and goal scorer and first four time All American, Brad Kobryn, would sign a Professional Tryout Contract with the Huntsville Havoc this summer as well. Kobryn becomes the second MD1 alum to play professional hockey in North America after former assistant coach Max Gavin, who played in the ECHL for the Wheeling Nailers.

McCloy would go on to sign with the Kansas City Mavericks of the ECHL this September, making him the third member of the Men's NCAA team's Class of 2018 to sign pro for 2018-19.

Kyle Brothers would make it four as he signed with HYC Herentals of the BeNE League, the top professional hockey league in Belgium.

The 6 Bulldog Alumni turning professional should come to no surprise to anyone in the Adrian Hockey Program, as both team's graduating classes wrote team history for both of their respective teams.

The Men's NCAA Class of 2018 finished their careers with 4 Peters Cup titles for the NCHA regular season, 2 Harris Cup titles for the NCHA playoffs and 4 NCAA tournament appearances, 2 of those appareances being Final Four.

The Men's D1 Class of 2018 is the winningest class in team history, winning the GLCHL regular season their freshman, junior and senior seasons, 2 GLCHL playoff titles and the first National Championship title in team history. The MD1 Class of 2018 only dropped 13 games their entire careers (winning 90% of their games) and went three seasons (2014-15, 2016-17 and 2017-18) undefeated at Arrington Ice Arena.

Roudebush leads in every goaltending category in the team record books after posting the only perfect season for a goaltender in Adrian Hockey History.

Kobryn finished his career as the program's first and only 4 time All American, the second Adrian College player to be named ACHA D1 Rookie of the Year (2015) and the first Adrian player, and second player ever, to be named ACHA D1 Player of the Year twice in a career (2015, 2017).

All 6 of the Bulldog Alumni will make their 2018-19 Season debuts, and some their professional debuts, later this month and early October.
