Men's ACHA D1 Player of the Year Austyn Roudebush Signs in Sweden
After an undefeated season where he posted a program best season record of 26-0, ACHA Men's D1 Player of the Year Austyn Roudebush has inked a professional contract with the Vikings HC, a member of the Division 2 Swedish professional league.
Roudebush is coming off of a phenomenal senior season where he became the first goaltender in team history to post undefeated regular and post-seasons as he backstopped the MD1 team to the GLCHL Regular Season Championship, GLCHL Playoff Championship and the ACHA Men's D1 National Championship. He would be named the GLCHL Playoff MVP, ACHA Men's D1 National Tournament MVP and the ACHA Men's D1 Player of the Year in his historic senior season.
Roudebush becomes only the second MD1 alum to play professional hockey after former MD1 assistant coach Max Gavin became the first back in the 2014-15 season.
"I am very excited about playing in Sweden. It is a stepping stone that will set the stage for what the future holds for me in my hockey career," says Roudebush, "Over the course of my four years at Adrian, I have made many life long friendships and memories. It is a place I can call home. I wish nothing but the best for the upcoming classes as I know they too will have the same result of affection toward Adrian College."
"Our staff could not be happier for Austyn as he signs his first pro contract in Sweden," says MD1 head coach Gary Astalos, "We were very lucky to have him in a Bulldog jersey as he is a relentless worker and great teammate. I see him having a bright future in the game and wish him absolutely nothing but the best on and off the ice."
