Justin Fisher Named Captain of National Champion MD1 Team
The reigning ACHA MD1 National Champions, the MD1 team, named their captain for the 2018-19 season this afternoon and senior Justin Fisher will steer the ship for the Bulldogs in the upcoming season.
Fisher, a member of the Class of 2018, the winningest class in program history, was a part of 3 regular season championships, 2 playoff titles and, most notably and recently, the team's first national championship title this past March. Fisher and the Class of 2018 went three seasons without dropping a game on home ice, including the last two straight seasons with a spotless home record.
In the last four seasons, Fisher has been an instrumental part of the MD1 team, especially the highly effective penalty kill unit. His freshman season, Fisher put up 29 assists in 31 games, good for 7th all time in team history for assists in a single season. Fisher currently sits at 6th all time in assists in a career with 80 assists in 134 games as a Bulldog. He comes into the season with 28 goals and 80 assists for 107 points in those 134 career games.
"I’m excited to be back and eager to lead this Bulldog team," said Fisher, "Ask anyone, our goal this season is the same as always... win it all. Last year we were able to complete our goal, and became National Champions. This season is no different. In August, the quest for the cup begins again."
