Women's Varsity Headed to SLAATS Cup Final
The Women's NCAA team took on the Marian Sabres this weekend in a two game quarterfinal series of the SLAATS Cup Playoffs.
The two teams would first square off on Friday night at Arrington Ice Arena with Sydney Daversa snagging the first goal of the game off of an assist from Olivia Fox at the 11:25 mark of the first period. After one, the Bulldogs would hold a 1-0 lead.
Brooke Schembri would make things 2-0 in the goal-filled second frame with assists from Kelly O'Sullivan and Hannah Dalrymple on the powerplay. Rose Krasofsky would score three minutes later with the lone assist going to Shelly Czarnowczan. Brianna Buchanan would score the third and final goal of the second period with assists from Maggie Mitter and Kortney Diaz. After two, the Bulldogs would hold a 4-0 lead.
The 4-0 would stay through the final 20 minutes of play and freshman goaltender Kate Turner would pick up her 10th shut of the season for a new program record for her team.
The first period of Saturday's game would be scoreless through twenty minutes of play. Jacqueline White would grab a powerplay goal in the second period at the 15:35 mark of the second period. Kelly O'Sullivan and Kristi Zink would both assist on the goal. After two, the Bulldogs lead 1-0.
Maggie Mitter would score her first of the playoffs at the 6:09 mark of the third period to give the home team the 2-0 advantage. Brianna Buchanan would snag the lone assist. Tory Harshman would cap things off with a powerplay goal at the 15:46 mark of the third with assists from White and Olivia Fox.
Kate Turner would once again pick up the win in net as the Bulldogs advanced to the SLAATS Cup Final for the third consecutive season.
