WACHA Wins First CCWHA Playoff Title

WACHA travelled to Kalamazoo, Michigan this weekend for the CCWHA Playoffs. After receiving a first round bye for winning the regular season, WACHA would face the Grand Valley State University Lakers for the semifinal game.

Nicole Paradis would net the only goal for WACHA in the first period with an assist from Jessica Harrison at the 6:40 mark of the first period. After one, WACHA would hold a 1-0 lead over the Lakers.

Grand Valley would tie things less than 30 seconds into the second period but Jessie Rushing would give the Bulldogs the lead once again at the 6:52 mark of the second period. Danica Polson and Olivia Ziemba would assist. After two, the Bulldogs lead 2-1.

Kaillie Hardy would add to the 2-1 lead for the final goal of the game at the 8:57 mark with the assist going to Sam Fortune. WACHA would walk away with the 3-1 victory and Alison Dungey picking up the win.

The Bulldogs would face the Miami Redhawks Sunday afternoon in the championship game.

Britt Levasseur would give the Bulldogs the early 1-0 lead at the 2:24 mark of the first period. Tara Wreblis and Kaillie Hardy would assist. A pair of goals from Nicole Paradis would make it 3-0 at the end of the first period. Hardy would assist on both of Paradis' goals.

Olivia Ziemba would tally the lone second period goal at the 9:36 mark of the second period with assists from Courtney Hoke and Danica Polson. The Bulldogs now held a 4-0 lead and were 20 minutes away from their first playoff title.

Miami would get on the board midway through the third but WACHA would prevail, picking up the win and their first CCWHA Playoff title.

WACHA now heads to Columbus, Ohio for the ACHA National Tournament in two weeks.
