MD1 Rolls Past Kent State to Advance to GLCHL Final
The MD1 Bulldogs took on the Kent State University Golden Flashes on Friday afternoon in the GLCHL Playoff semifinal game.
Kyle Perkowksi's second of the playoff tournament gave the Bulldogs the lead at the 12:58 mark of the first period. Jordan Oshowy and Josh Hosking would add assists on the goal. Brad Kobryn would chip one past the goaltender's shoulder with 3:00 remaining to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. Oshowy and Mike Finger would assist on Kobryn's goal. After one, the Bulldogs would hold a 2-0 lead.
Dan Stone would tally the lone goal of the middle frame at the 5:47 mark of the second period off of an assist from Joe Costello. After two, the Bulldogs would lead 3-0.
Kobryn would open the third in the most entertaining fashion, picking the puck up with his stick and scoring what could only be described as a lacrosse style, highlight reel goal that you'd see on Sports Center. Kobryn's latest unbelievable goal would come unassisted at the 1:45 mark of the third. Rainer Glimpel would score the final goal of the game, sending the puck top shelf at the 10:01 mark of the third period. Oshowy and Dominic Moore would tally assists.
Austyn Roudebush would pick up his 8th shutout of the season with the win as the Bulldogs advance to the GLCHL Playoff Championship game tomorrow at 2:30 pm against the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
