MD1 Captures Fourth GLCHL Playoff Title


The MD1 team took on the University of Michigan at Dearborn this afternoon in the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League's Playoff Championship game at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.

The Bulldogs drew first blood as Chris Donaldson netted the first goal of the game at the 2:35 mark of the first period. Jordan Oshowy would notch the lone assist on Donaldson's goal. The Bulldogs would end the period up 1-0 and leading in shots 22-7.

Oshowy would make things 2-0 in favor of the Bulldogs at the 5:24 mark of the middle frame with a goal of his own. Brad Kobryn would grab the lone assist. The Wolverines would come back to tie the game. Joe Costello would break the deadlock with 15:14 mark of the second period with an assist from Kobryn. Heading into the third, the Bulldogs held a 3-1 lead.

The Wolverines would tie things up once again at the 13:43 mark of the final frame to deadlock things 3-3. Kobryn would be the hero for the Bulldogs, scoring the eventual game winner with 5:40 remaining in the contest.

Austyn Roudebush, the GLCHL Playoff Tournament MVP, would pick up the win for the Bulldogs between the pipes for his 22nd win of the season.

The Bulldogs will now turn their attention to the National Tournament, where they will play their first game versus and to be determined opponent on Friday, March 9th in Columbus, Ohio.
