MD1 Shuts Out Oakland in GLCHL Playoffs
The MD1 team took on the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies yesterday afternoon at the Ann Arbor Ice Cub in the GLCHL Playoff tournament.
Marcus Rose tallied the first goal of the game on a powerlpay at the 3:49 mark of the first period. Joe Costello would get the lone assist. Austin Kuhn would bury a rebound after multiple Adrian shot attempts with 9:00 gone to make things 2-0. Mark Fratarcangeli and Michael Tratar would add assists. Brad Kobryn would stick his stick between the goaltender and the post and shove in his own rebound as it trickled between the legs of the Oakland goaltender to put the Bulldogs up 3-0. Dominic Moore would score with 1:27 remaining in the first to give the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead after one. Archie McKinnon and Rose would assist.
Mike Finger would score the first goal of the second period at the 7:06 mark of the second period with Costello and Kobryn assisting. Rainer Glimpel would score from a long pass from goaltender Austyn Roudebush at the 10:09 mark of the second period. Costello would score a goal of his own, sending the puck in the far top corner from in front of the crease to put the Bulldogs up 7-0 in the second. After two, the Bulldogs would hold a 7-0 lead.
Marcel Kottek would come in and bury a rebound back door at the 1:04 mark of the third and final frame off of an assist from Glimpel. McKinnon would tally the final goal of the game with only 1:38 remaining to make the final score 9-0 in favor of the Bulldogs.
Roudebush would pick up the win between the pipes for the Bulldogs with his 7th shutout of the season. The Bulldogs move on to the GLCHL semifinals, which will be hosted this afternoon at 4:00 when the face off against the Kent State University Golden Flashes.
