McCloy's Natural Hat Trick Sends Men's NCAA To Harris Cup Semifinals


After defeating the Raiders 3-2 on Friday night in game #1 of the quarterfinal series, the Bulldogs and Raiders were battling it out once again for a spot in the Harris Cup Semifinals.

The Bulldogs would strike first with less than two minutes remaining in the first period. Ryan Cusin would net the Bulldogs' first goal of the night with assists to Dino Balsamo and Trevor Boyd. After one, the Bulldogs held a 1-0 lead.

The Raiders would tie things up at 1 a piece at the 11:16 mark of the second period to make things 1-1. Boyd would be the hero on the powerplay, giving the Bulldogs a 2-1 edge. Balsamo and Cory Dunn would add assists. The Raiders would tie the game once again at the 16:07 mark of the second on the powerplay to make things 2-2 heading into the final period of play.

Taylor McCloy would pick up where he left off the night before with his 3rd in two games at the 3:01 mark of the third period. Kyle Brothers and Mat Thompson would pick up assists. The Raiders would tie things for the final time at 3-3 on the powerplay at the 4:50 mark of the third period. McCloy would snag his second of the night 37 seconds later off of an assist from Dunn. McCloy would complete the natural hat trick at the 14:47 mark to give the Bulldogs the 5-3 lead. Brothers and Thompson would assist on the goal once again. Brothers would add an empty net goal on an unassisted effort to lock in the victory for the Bulldogs.

Kevin Entmaa picked up the win in net for the Bulldogs to propel them to the Harris Cup Semifinals, which the Bulldogs will host next weekend against the lowest remaining North seed.
