Senior Austyn Roudebush Picks up Shutout on MD1 Senior Night
The MD1 team hosted the Knights of Calvin College for the first time yesterday evening at Arrington Ice Arena for Senior Night.
Joe Costello would pick up the only tally of the first period at the 12:38 mark of the first frame. Marcus Rose and Marcel Kottek would pick up assists on Costello's tally. After one, the Bulldogs would lead 1-0.
Rose would grab a goal of his own, knocking in the rebound back door off of a shot from Rainer Glimpel. Glimpel and Dominic Moore would pick up assists on Rose's goal. Brad Kobryn would be the lone senior to pick up a goal on senior night in the second period of play, undressing the goaltender and sending the puck over the goalie's pad to put the Bulldogs up 3-0. Kottek and Archie McKinnon would snag assists. Mike Finger would add one more second period goal with 1:22 remaining in the second period. Kobryn and Dan Stone would pick up assists. After two, the Bulldogs would hold a 4-0 lead.
Kobryn would pick up his second of the night at the 10:34 mark of the second period with assists from Costello and Kottek. Jordan Oshowy would send the puck fluttering over the shoulder of the Knights goaltender with 1:28 remaining to put the Bulldogs up 6-0.
Senior Austyn Roudebush would pick up the win and the shutout on senior night for the Bulldogs, earning his 17th win of the season and 6th shutout.
The Bulldogs were scheduled to play the Knights again tonight in Grand Rapids, however, the game was postponed due to weather and will be rescheduled. Next weekend, the Bulldogs travel to Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania to take on the Lakers for their final regular season match up of the 2017-18 season.
