Men's Varsity Thumps Finlandia to Stay Perfect in January
In the second game of a two game weekend, the Men's NCAA team took on the Finlandia Lions at Arrington Ice Arena.
Joey Colatarci started things off for the Bulldogs on the powerplay at the 1:41 mark of the first period. Dino Balsamo and Trevor Boyd would add assists. Boyd would notch a goal of his own at the 11:07 mark of the first period. Ryan Cusin and Cameron Cooper would notch assists. Cooper grabbed one of his own 9 seconds later with assists going to Boyd and Cusin. After one, the Bulldogs were up by a score of 3-0.
Kyle Brothers notched his 7th of the season at the 4:42 mark of the second period with assists going to Vinny Post and Braden Hellems. Austin Rust would notch his 7th of the season as well in the second period with assists going to Bud Madej and Dean Hewines. Hellems would send home a powerplay goal less than a minute later with assists being awarded to Brothers and Cory Dunn. Finlandia would get on the board at the 15:15 mark and the period would end with the Bulldogs up by a score of 6-1.
Mat Thompson would tally the lone goal of the final frame and the buzzer would sound and the Bulldogs would come out with a 7-1 win with Dillon Kelley picking up his 6th win of the season while making 26 out of 27 shots on net.
With the win, the Bulldogs have won 9 straight games and went the entire month of January without a loss while the Bulldog goaltenders posted a 1.22 GAA for the month.
