Men's Varsity Takes Down St. Norbert in Overtime Thriller
The #1 team in the USCHO Coach's poll took on the #1 team in the D3Hockey.com poll as the Adrian College Bulldogs and St. Norbert College Green Knights battled it out in front of over nearly 1,000 people crammed into Arrington Ice Arena on Friday night.
The Green Knights struck first in the first period and it would be the lone goal scored in the first twenty minutes of play as the Bulldogs would head into the first intermission without getting on the board. The Green Knights would extend their lead to two less than a minute into the second frame. Trevor Boyd's tenth of the season would get the Bulldogs on the board and cut the Green Knight's lead in half. Cameron Cooper and Joey Colatarci would assist on Boyd's goal at the 12:56 mark of the second period.
Chase Matson would tie things up at 2 a piece as the crowd went crazy at Arrington Ice Arena at the 11:44 mark of the third period. Colatarci and Taylor McCloy would add assists on Matson's trying goal. The Bulldogs and Green Knights would exchange some close calls and shots but the two teams would be tied at 2 after 60 minutes of play.
It would be junior defenseman Cory Dunn who was the overtime hero for the Bulldogs, sending home the game winning goal from the top of the circle at the 2:13 mark of the overtime period to give the Bulldogs their 8th straight win.
The Bulldogs continue their win-streak at home with Kevin Entmaa picking up the big win for the Bulldogs in his 10th win of the season. The Bulldogs are back at Arrington Saturday at 3:05 when they play host to the Finlandia University Lions at Arrington Ice Arena.
